Hi! We’re back again with a few long overdue changes! Over the next few weeks I will try and give you a picture of what is going on here at ND this year. Lets start with our TRANSFORMERS (known as TF) project. We’ve got 5 groups during the week, girls and boys between the ages of 8 and 16.
Our present TF children come from a local community (a small favela), called Padre Eustaquio, about 5 km from ND. However, the local council just finished building blocks of flats on the outskirts of Padre Eustaquio, to house 160 families and to be honest our hearts jumped at this natural opening, literally on our flight path as it were, for ND to be able to reach out to more children and their families. The flats were allocated to these people because they were either homeless or living at risk in different parts of Itabirito, our local town of over 50,000 inhabitants. Last night we finished our visits to every family, offering their children the opportunity to take part in our TF Project. So we are on the verge of increasing our intake of children from around 40 to around 90! SCARY but exciting!
